I would imagine that all of us would have been very excited about going on leave for 8 months! Mom had been to England in 1935 so she had an idea of what that country was like but dad had only been around China, and the farthest place Lindy and I had been to was Macao 😉
My father kept a diary each leave, thank goodness, so I’m able to list dates, places and people without scratching my head to try to remember where and what we did from photos.
I was 5 years old when we sailed from Hong Kong so I know I wouldn’t have been any use with remembering much!
