1955 @ the VRC in Deep Water Bay

Me going to the Victoria Recreation Club (VRC) at Deep Water Bay. I wish my father hadn’t focused his camera on me all the time – it would have been great if he’d panned the bay and the beach! Oh well ?

I must say I looked like I wasn’t enjoying being in the limelight!!

1955 — My 8th Burpday

This one is a quick clip of me on my 8th birthday … a leather satchel to hold my music in when going to and from Kowloon to have lessons with Balia, and I guess some of my presents, including a ball, bat and catcher!  Like the video clip above, I wish my father had panned the scenery rather than just concentrating on me!  It would have been great to see what Happy Valley looked like back in those days!

1956 Christmas and me rollerskating around the PRC

This clip is me celebrating 1956 arriving (!) and then dad took a movie of me rollerskating slow along Morrison Hill Road, going towards Sports Road, me on Sports Road, then me on Leighton Road, skating past the Police Club.

1956 My 9th birthday, playing Zorro

There used to be a lay-by on Stubbs Road – a small grassy area with a bench overlooking the harbour — it might still be there for all I know! Dad took me there and filmed me fooling around with a pretend épée and racing around like an idiot, pretending I was Zorro!! I really was such a tomboy 😀

1956 Shatin at the Yatskins house

We went to Shatin with Sashka Smirnoff to visit the Yatskins when they were living there. This movie clip shows us all fooling around in the garden while Sasha was flying a kite.
