When I saw this on my Facebook news feed it really resounded in my heart. At the time of writing, I know my girls aren’t interested in learning about their mother’s life, and I also imagine that my grandkids are the same.  The girls are busy with their lives, their husbands, their kids, and their kids are busy with school, etc.  I was the same at that age.

However when I hit 60, I felt I needed to know more about my side of the family. My parents didn’t talk much about their past, and my grandmother’s English was just a bit better than my Russian so our conversations weren’t of anything profound.

I’m hoping that when my kids turn 60 or so, the same feeling will come over them and I hope that they’ll find my stories of interest.  Certainly the way of life when I was growing up was so different to how it was when they were growing up, and totally different to my grandkids’ lives.

I feel it’s so necessary to write down how life was, especially in HK in those days.  And also tell them about our leaves, where we all piled into a car and drove to where we wanted to go on the Continent without Trivago or TripAdvisor! No mobile phones or internet to help us plan our journey, and finding rooms in hotels was just luck in most places!

I realised that trying to put all my stories, and all my photos & videos, on one page about my life in HK was not possible so I’m splitting the years up.

Hopefully the sections will make sense to those who want to read about my story ?
